This week a federal court in Mafra've been busy because of a conflict between the Indians and farmers in the region of Itaiópolis / SC. I quote the following excerpt note of clarification provided by the Director of the Secretariat of the Federal Court of Mafra, Rodrigo Medeiros Costa, published in Brazil Jus :

"In 2003, through Ordinance 1128 of the Ministry of Justice, was extended to Indian reservation Ibirama There Klan, located in the municipalities of Vitor Meireles, José Boiteux, Itaiópolis Pedrinho and Doctor in Santa Catarina. Thus some landowners in the region have proposed an action in Federal Court in Joinville to discuss the validity of the Ordinance. Since there is a conflict of interests between the State of Santa Catarina and the Union, the jurisdiction should be the Supreme Court (STF), because of conflict of interest between two federal entities. Thus, the Complaint was made No. 3205, the Supreme Court, which claims the competence of this process for them. The means to demarcate those lands is through other methods and measurements made by the National Indian Foundation (FUNAI), who even checks to see which owners will be compensated.
